Water in the fluid

Mike | Water in the fluid

A few months ago i got water in the compartment that holds the hydraulic pump. As a result, somehow, water ended up in the reservior. Thru the drain hole..? I took out about a cup of water. As you might have guessed the water mixed with the fluid and traveled to thru the system.

Fred mentioned in past posts about problems with the valves and the fluid looking a little milkey. Well water seems to be the culprit.

Time to flush out the system and replace the pump. I am a little concerned about the cylinders.

So how do you stop the water from entering the system? Yea, yea......don't get water in the compartment, well surprise, if you land in the water eventually you will get water in the compartment!

PS - If you live in the cold weather this is a problem as I saw 2 days ago with the gear....up-down....all ok

Very helpful post, Thanx. I will drill & tap my reservoir cap for a tube fitting and run tubing above the water line or into the cockpit.
