gderamel | SubKit #5 - Water Rudder

Would someone kindly scan and email me a copy of the WATER RUDDER (subkit #5) section; my copy is missing. It appears the metal shaft that the rudder is connected to is bent and needs to be replaced. The water rudder does NOT travel >20degrees in either direction... gets very tight beyond.

I count 15 pages in Section 5 and another 8 pages in Section 8. If you email me your address, I will drop the material in the mail to you. - Jim

Rusty

The very knowledgeable and talented airplane builder I've hired to help me once worked for ACE Aviation in Northern Calif. He told me on one trip he had to jump in the water every place they landed (watered?) to unjam the water rudder so they could takeoff again. I'm planning to mount mine on the tail end, outside like everybody's float plane--ugly but serviceable. I would appreciate any thoughts on how to make it less ugly.

usty,

Check with Planemakers they have an EXCELLENT solution.

It's a completely engineered water rudder. They installed it about a year ago and it's preformed perfectly since. Here's some pictures to help describe their work.
