Subject: Need some parts

Good morning, We are very close to putting the Seawind we have in Tasmania into the air. The cockpit canopy has an electric lift system and there are no external handles to open the cockpit in the case of an emergency. We would like to rectify at least the handle situation before we start test flying. Can you advise where I can get an original set of canopy handles /locks so that we can retrofit. Also can you advise if there is any clutched motors available for the electric lift system for the canopy. At the moment you would need to disengage the struts from the inside in the event of an accident or loss of power. The electric lift strut is very convenient but I would prefer a design that only engaged with power so that the canopy could be opened without the struts being disengaged in the event of loss of power.

Any direction you can offer on this would be very welcome.

Thank you Gary Skinner. Member
