I have been trying to get a key cut for my canopy lock.
The lock smith tells me it is an Italian cam lock and he does not know where to get the blanks.
Does anyone know where they might be available?

Hi Mike,
I travel to Italy fairly recently. If you like, I could look for the key blank for you. Just send me some macro digital images of the key and I'll try to locate a replacement blank.

mike. it was a few years ago, but i was able to get blanks here in the states.
if memory serves, there were some markings on the lock that helped identify it and I was able to get blanks from there. unfortunatley i no longer remember where. the same type of locks used to be available from aircraft spruce .

But I found a lock smith that was able to make some keys from pretty much nothing.

Not sure how to start a "thread," so'll use this one.
Does anyone have drawings, especially assembly, for the canopy LATCH?
Latch parts were one of the many things Seawind shorted me in my kit. When I finally opened the box after retirement there were two pieces that looked like they might belong and a bag of loose junk that might have been swept off the floor at Alexander Aero. There was a pair of toggle latches one might hold a lid on a shipping crate--not accessible from inside and out-bad idea in an emergency.
I can design and build something similar to the seawind, but need a feel for how strong.
I saw canopy latches on a BD-5 that were tied together with a push-pull cable so it could be opened from one outside position. I would like to do the same so the 1st person coming to drag my carcass from the flaming wreckage can get it done-not using a fancy recessed handle but something external, streamlined and intuitive. Two cabinet locks with matching keys come with an ACS ignition switch-can be used to lock the canopy and forward hatch.
The drawing I got from Evansburg tool showed nothing useful.

There are several versions of the canopy latch's. can you post pictures of what you have? The easiest and simple is the version where the self contained latch is on each side of the plane. From the inside simply turn the lever; from the outside, flip the handle out, turn to open.
I have seen one that has access thru the nose bag compartment, pull the knob, latches unhook pins, raise canopy.....

Rusty | D.I.Y. Canopy Latch
Attached are views of the SolidWorks model of my latch. Parts are done and polished but not installed--waiting for pro helper to return and glass in fasteners from a small external hole leaving inside surface smooth and not snag wires to be pulled the hollow longerons. Thru shaft is 1/2 dia. steel; latch hook is 1/8 thk steel. Cam slot controls hook movement.
