Mike | California Seawind Wanted For The Movies

Dear Editor,

I have a company in California that provides aircraft to the entertainment industry for use in commercials, feature films, etc. I have a client that is looking for a Seawind to use in a production out here in Southern California. Can you advise of any owners that you know that are somewhat local that may be contacted regarding this?

Thanks

While I'd love to have my Seawind in the movies, here's a heads up for anyone considering this. When Dick Silva was pursuing having the factory demo plane in a James Bond movie 10-15 years ago, I recall that getting insurance coverage was a time consuming, nearly show stopping issue. In todays Seawind insurance environment, there are probably the two proverbial chances to get coverage, slim and none. I hope someone proves me wrong on this. Also, I've heard that the movie crew is typically pretty rough on equipment. Tom Saccio, can you comment on this? You can probably guess by the foregoing that I've dreamed of seeing my bird on the big screen but haven't for the above reasons. Someone please prove that I'm way off base on all of this.

The film company should have a blanket policy that will cover the plane. That being said everything should be discussed and put down in writing before hand. The crew in general is very respectiful of peoples property and take care not to cause any damage.

How the plane will be used should also be discussed. Anything that is done has to be cleared with the pilot and the owner of the plane. Final decissions are there's. Nothing should be done that they deem unsafe. I called Jack yesterday about this so he is looking into it. We'll see what materializes.
